Woman makes meeting
to look at car, gets robbed
MOUNT CLEMENS — A woman from Casco Township thought she was meeting someone in a parking lot to check out a used car she was interested in buying. Instead she was robbed.
According to Capt. Anthony Wickersham with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, a 24-year-old woman planned to meet with someone she had been talking to on Craigslist that was selling a car. The pair decided to meet up in the parking lot of the Traffic Light Limited, a topless bar located at 24500 Joy Boulevard in Mount Clemens.
The woman arrived at the location at around 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 3, with another female friend and two male friends, when a man approached her pointing a gun.
“While they were waiting in the parking lot a black male come up to her, pointed a gun at her and took her purse and money,” said Wickersham. “He kind of just rushed up on her and took her stuff.”
The man got away with over $1,000. Wickersham said that with the help of the Clinton Township Police Department, a K-9 unit was able to track a scent to an apartment complex located nearby, but police weren’t able to find the suspect.
The suspect is described as being 20 to 23 years old, around 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 180 to 190 pounds. The suspect was wearing a black coat, black pants and a black hat at the time of the robbery.
Wickersham said that police are pretty certain that the person the woman made the meeting with was the same person that robbed her.
“The person she tells us she talked to never showed up,” he said. “This person could have been the one that set something up.”
